We seek to bring people with different levels of and experiences with public scholarship together to learn from and share expertise. While we anticipate that attendees will come away from the workshop with some practical insight for how to effectively serve as a public scholar, the focus is not to provide a how-to guide on becoming a public scholar or growing their audience. Rather, the workshop will: (1) illustrate why public scholarship matters in CSCW; (2)showcase the array of options CSCW researchers have for engaging in public scholarship; (3) provide insight into the risks and benefits of public scholarship in 2026; (4) build participants' confidence and self-efficacy for engaging in public scholarship, and (5) build solidarity amid rapidly shifting landscapes that come with unequal impacts.
