Financial Aid

  • Financial Aid can be a confusing process. Begin early and keep a file with all important passwords and ID’s. The FAFSA (Federal Application for Student Assistance) opens on October 1st. Two years previous tax returns will be used on this application.

Students will also need to create a Web Grants Account to monitor any Cal Grant awards. CORE will automatically submit your GPA to Web Grants (California Grants).

Students will also want to look into scholarships. Homeless and Foster youth will have additional opportunities.

  • Cash 4 College Workshops – each year CORE works with Butte College Financial Aid experts in holding a Cash 4 College Workshop at the Cohasset Center. This workshop brings Butte’s financial aid experts to our center (with computers set up) where students and parents can complete their FAFSA with the experts on hand to answer questions.
      • A date has yet to be set but will hopefully be planned for the beginning of November. Watch this site and emails for more information.
      • There are numerous Cash 4 College workshops in our county. Click this link to find others you may wish to attend:

  • Scholarships – There are many scholarships available. It is important to begin your search early. All scholarships that cross the counselors desk will be posted on the scholarship link on our website. The link to CORE scholarship page is included in this document. BE CAREFUL!
