Outdoors

I'm a huge fan of the outdoors, and it's not unusual for me to spend more time outside than inside during the summer. I love running, biking, hiking, rollerblading, and doing yoga. In the winter I enjoy snowshoeing, ice skating, nordic, and downhill skiing. I became a certified scuba diver in 2012, and my family is made up of experienced divers and snorkelers. It's a value of mine to spend time appreciating the world around me, regardless of the season.

Gardening

Through working at a local garden center and produce stand for the past five summers, I've learned to appreciate all plants and the therapeutic aspects of gardening. I have a secret talent for keeping plants alive, and always keep a small indoor garden going throughout the colder months.

Books and Podcasts

I genuinely love reading all books; fiction and nonfiction. In relation to nutrition and wellness, I just finished The Food Therapist and The Joy of Movement. I also love listening to many different political and healthcare podcasts including Nutrition Matters, 2 Docs Talk, and anything from NPR. Many of my beliefs on health and wellness tie back to what I've read or listened to.

Wellness

There's always a certain pressure associated with eating healthy and being physically active, and I take a gentle approach when it comes to myself and wellness. I like to exercise in ways that bring me happiness, and I enjoy cooking for myself and others because it makes me feel connected to food, and allows me to connect with others through food. Many of my "healthy" practices are made up of things that make me feel happy and fulfilled, and I believe health can look different on everyone.
