Involvement

Students and Alumni Linked Together (SALT)

I have served as a member of the alumni awareness committee in SALT for the past three years. In this role I have helped plan many events that work to connect students with alumni as well as engage with and educate students on the importance and role of alumni in their college experience. We also organize and participate in many volunteer activities. I have also participated in professional development events that have allowed me to network with alumni in similar fields.

Concordia Women's Hockey

Hockey has always been a big passion of mine. I was blessed to have the opportunity to continue my hockey career at the NCAA division III level. I was a member of the Cobber Hockey team for four years and loved every minute of it. Not only am I thankful that I was able to play the sport I love, but I am also thankful for the life lessons I learned over those four years. I developed a strong work ethic and perseverance while also learning how to overcome adversity and work as a team.

Orientation Team

As a two-year member of the orientation team, I was really able to develop my leadership abilities. My first year, I, along with a partner, led a group of 22 incoming students through five days of orientation, helping them successfully transition to college life. This experience was very rewarding because I was able to become a mentor for a small group of new students and guide them through their first year as a Cobber.

Club Lacrosse

I was a member of the Concordia Club Lacrosse Team for two years. I played lacrosse in high school, so I enjoyed having the opportunity to pick it back up in the last two years of college. After my first season, I was selected as a captain for the next year. Although we weren't ultimately able to have our competitive season due to COVID, serving in this role throughout preseason and practices further advanced my leadership skills through planning practices, communicating with team members, and being a mentor and role model for the rest of the girls.

Colleges Against Cancer

I was a member of Colleges Against Cancer for three years. The main thing that we did was plan the Relay for Life event each year. I was a part of the publicity committee so my job was to help decorate for the event as well as create posters and signs that were posted around campus to raise awareness of the event. We also made signage for tabling events throughout the year where we would have activities for students to raise awareness about cancer. Being a member of this organization was important to me because I have friends and family members who have suffered from cancer, so being able to help put on an event that helps raise money for cancer research.

Student Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics (SAND)

Being a member of SAND has opened my eyes to a variety of different areas and pathways available in the field of dietetics. I attend meetings where speakers come and give presentations on their job and how they got there and also participate in volunteer activities.

Moorhead Youth Sports Coach

I have been a coach for Moorhead Youth Lacrosse for the past two years. I was one of the coaches of the inaugural team and helped my 12-14U girls win the championship in their final tournament of their first season. By the end of the year, I had been transitioned into the role of head coach, which really improved my leadership abilities. This year, I have also started coaching 15U girls hockey in Moorhead. Coaching has been a great experience for me. Being a role model and a mentor for these girls is an honor and watching them improve and succeed is so rewarding.
