The Counselors in Corbin Independent Schools offer an integrated counseling program throughout the school district. We collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to provide services dealing with social skills, academic skills/behaviors, self-regulation skills, mental health counseling, career counseling, etc.

Green Dot
During the last week of October, Jamie and JeriKay attended the Green Dot Bystander Prevention Virtual Institute, a program that equips high school students with their own personal skills to create a positive culture and climate in our schools and community. Freshmen at Corbin High School will attend a Green Dot Overview session through their English classes in November.
Kentucky School Safety Month
During the month of October, Kentucky schools take part in lessons and activities that focus on School Safety, Bullying Prevention, and Substance Abuse Prevention. CMS students participated in lessons on CyberBullying, Cyber Safety, Digital Citizenship, and Social Factors that contribute to bullying/harassment. CPS students also participated in activities focusing on Bullying Prevention and Red Ribbon Week.
Thank you NCYI!!
The National Council for Youth Issues provides professional development opportunities, technique books, manipulatives, children's books, and many more resources for school counselors across the nation. The Corbin counselors were able to purchase such resources for each office in the district, and were surprised with a free copy of one of their most popular children's books for every K-3rd grade student at Corbin Primary School!
Halloween Trunk or Treat
Students at Corbin Primary School were able to participate in a reverse Trunk or Treat event hosted by our School Social Worker, Taylor Baker, and the Family Resource Center Coordinator, Hannah Greer. Teachers, administrators, and all other CPS employees had a blast dressing up in their best Halloween costumes and handing out Halloween treats to their students!
