About Mrs. Sandy

Mrs. Sandy

I am thrilled to be teaching 2nd grade this year. This will be my 9th year teaching and I am excited to work with such a fascinating group of students. I graduated with my bachelors and masters degrees from The Ohio State University and am highly qualified to teach preK through third grade in the state of Ohio. I have also have my reading endorsement from Ohio University and have started to work towards my gifted endorsement.

I enjoy teaching in a classroom that has a sense of community and support. I try very hard to create that community by treasuring what each child has to offer with their personality and special skills. It is so important to me that my students feel safe and supported by all their peers to learn, grow and make mistakes.

I currently live in west Akron with my husband but have lived in many different parts of the state. I enjoy boating, skiing, gardening, baking/cooking and cheering on the Buckeyes. I'm sure you will also hear many retellings of the adventures of Boss (our cat) and Mac (our 145 lb. Newfoundland dog). They are a kooky pair who always send me to school each week with a funny story for my class.
