Welcome Newsletter- Library policies and procedures
Dear Francestown Families,
Our library checkout policies are below. The library goal for this year is to work on proper shelving while building our library vocabulary.
Kindergarten: Kindergarteners will check out one book on Monday to keep in the classroom until Friday. Kindergarteners generally do not bring their books home as they are still practicing book care procedures.
First Grade: First graders will check out one book on Monday that they can either take home or keep at school. They will return the book on Friday. On Friday, they will check out one or two books to be kept in the classroom for independent reading while I am away.
Second and Third Grade: Second and Third graders may check out two books on Monday. They may take one book home and the other must stay at school. They will return both books on Friday. On Friday, they will check out two books to keep in the classroom for independent reading while I am away.
Fourth Grade: Fourth graders may check out two books on Monday to take home or keep at school. They will return the books on Friday. On Friday, they will check out two or three books to keep in the classroom for independent reading while I am away.
During Library Media Residency weeks, there will be open library time. If a student would like to check out a book they are welcome to use the open library time to do so. On weeks when I am away, students are welcome to use the self check-out station in the library to check out books. Books can be returned in the bin outside the library.
I hope this year, we are able to build a community of readers! I will continue to use these website as a way to update families on library news and to post pictures of what we are doing in the library. If you have any questions or thoughts, please email me at tlegare@conval.edu. I will be sending a letter home with students during the first library class week outlining these procedures as well.
Happy Reading!
Ms. Legare
