Remote Learning resources

These first three sources are district supported, and your child has a log in. That information will be sent home soon.

Zearn

DCS Kindergarten children are all working with numbers to ten on Zearn. As the child masters certain skills (say, partners to ten) the program moves them to other ways of working to ten or above. This is a district supported program which follows our math program, Eurika.

Raz Kids

This site offers leveled books to support your child in reading. Because this program has the option to have the book read to the child, I have input your child's level two steps higher than his/her independent reading level. This will allow access to a wide variety of readers. When the child takes the "quiz" after hearing or reading a book, I can access scores and learn what types of questions your child may have missed. I will then message you and your child through the program with strategies to support your child in that area.

LEXIA

This is a program that supports literacy. Initially, your child tested into a beginning level, and will progress at his/her on speed. 60 minutes/week is recomended for optimal progress. That recommendation may change dependent on progress; I will let you know if that is the case for your child.

VOOKS

Vooks provides stories on line. Though the selection is sometimes a bit limited, the quality is great. I use it occasionally in the classroom. VOOKS is offering one month free for parents, and sample lessons that go along with stories. Though I would not ask you to actually do the lessons with your child (you may choose to, some look pretty good), they do offer talking points, suggestions to stop and reflect on the story, thoughts about author's purpose, and they introduce literary vocabulary. Good for higher grades also.
