Welcome to Miss Gendron's page!
The Educational Support Team is primarily made up of Miss Gendron and Mrs Burnett. Together we support students who have Individualized Education Plans to access the curriculum in their classrooms. We also provide small group or individualized instruction to those students who need specialized instruction. Whenever possible, we provide instruction/intervention for students who do not have an IEP, but who need extra support with specific skills. We progress-monitor many students so that classroom teachers can adjust their teaching to accommodate student needs. Our team also includes Mrs. Haynes, Miss Livingston, Miss Trainor, and Miss Lavoie, who provide individual support to address specific students' needs.
Progress Reports: IEP progress reports are sent home at the end of each academic quarter. You can expect them to come home with reports cards, (that is always my goal), or shortly thereafter. You can expect Qtr 2 progress reports to go home on February 2nd with report cards.
I attended Emmanuel College in Boston, earning my BS degree in Psychology and certification in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a minor in Education.
I completed my M.Ed in Education and certifications in General Special Ed, Learning Disabilities, and Intellectual Disabilities from Keene State College.
I served 2 years in a volunteer program similar to the Peace Corps, in which I worked with children with severe physical disabilities in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.
I began my teaching career at Crotched Mountain Rehab Center school where I worked with students with physical and intellectual disabilities. After 20 years at "the Mountain", I came to Conval School district, working for 10 years as the special educator for 5th grade at South Meadow School. In 2015, I transferred from SMS to Greenfield Elementary, and love it here!
When I'm not at work, I enjoy skiing, kayaking, bicycling, and walking. I love to read, though I need my book club group to keep the pressure on! I have practiced Tae Kwon Do for over 20 year, achieving the rank of 3rd degree black belt. Recently I made the difficult decision to retire from this sport, to minimize injuries in my aging body!
