Educational Support

Welcome to Miss Gendron's page!

The Educational Support Team is currently made up of Miss Gendron, Special Educator and our team of paraeducators including Mrs. Garceau, Mrs Bouchard, and Mrs. Hollenbeck.  Together we support students who have Individualized Education Plans to access the curriculum in their classrooms.   We also provide small group or individualized instruction to those students who need specialized instruction.   Whenever possible, we provide instruction/intervention for students who do not have an IEP, but who need extra support with specific skills.   We progress-monitor many students so that classroom teachers can adjust their teaching to accommodate student needs.

Progress Reports:    IEP progress reports are sent home at the end of each academic trimester.  You can expect them to come home with reports cards, (that is always my goal), or shortly thereafter.   You can expect Trimester 1  progress reports to go home at parent conferences with report cards.    Tri 2 progress reports will go home in early March along with report cards.  Note:  the trimester end date is sometimes adjusted due to snow days.

About Me

Education

I attended Emmanuel College in Boston, earning my BS degree in Psychology and certification in Rehabilitation Counseling, and a minor in Education.

I completed my M.Ed in Education and earned certifications in General Special Ed,  Learning Disabilities, and Intellectual Disabilities from Keene State College.

Work Experience

I served 2 years in a volunteer program similar to the Peace Corps, in which I worked with children with severe physical and cognitive disabilities in Prince George, British Columbia, Canada.

I began my teaching career at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center school where I worked with students with physical and intellectual disabilities.  After 20 years at "the Mountain", I came to ConVal School district, working for 10 years as the special educator for 5th grade at South Meadow School.  In 2015, I transferred from SMS to Greenfield Elementary, and love it here!

When I'm not at work, I enjoy skiing, kayaking, bicycling, walking and Pickleball.  I love to read, though I need my book club group to keep the pressure on!   I have practiced Tae Kwon Do for over 20 years, achieving the rank of 3rd degree black belt.   Recently I made the difficult decision to retire from this sport, to minimize injuries in my aging body!  I'm now taking piano lessons instead! (Much safer!)
