Classroom Lessons
Classroom Lessons
Regular classroom instruction is provided to students and is reinforced by teachers. Classroom counseling lessons in the academic, career, and personal/social domains are aligned with the American School Counseling Association's Mindsets and Behaviors and are based upon K-12 developmental goals.
The Zones of Regulation is a trusted, evidence-based framework that builds emotional regulation and behavioral skills for life. Grounded in cognitive behavioral science, it gives individuals and communities a common language for navigating emotions—and the practical strategies to do it well.
Why It’s Different:
✔ Supports neurodivergent and neurotypical learners alike
✔ Enhances learning, focus, and resilience
✔ Builds capacity for co-regulation and connection
Sorting Our Emotions Into Four Zones
Feelings are complicated. They come in different sizes, intensities, and levels of energy that are unique within our brains and bodies. To make them easier to talk about, think about, and regulate, The Zones of Regulation organizes our feelings, states of alertness, and energy levels into four colored Zones – Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red.
The simple, common language and visual structure of The Zones of Regulation helps make the complex skill of regulation more concrete for learners and those who support them. We learn to regulate our Zones to meet our goals and task demands, as well as support our overall well-being.
