Science/Social Studies

What we are learning in Science in Kindergarten:

  • Becoming a scientist: understand that scientific investigation begins with a question; look for patterns, make observations, identify cause and effect relationships; use drawings, models, and words to communicate learning

  • Life Science: investigate what plants and animals need to survive; how do plants and animals adapt for the environment around them; how do humans impact the world around them

  • Earth Science: focus on weather and how it changes through the seasons; types of severe weather in our region

  • Physical Science: explore forces and motion

What we are learning in Social Studies in Kindergarten:

  • Geography: studying maps - maps of our face, our classroom, United States, solar system

  • Economics: identify wants and needs, goods and services, and learning about money

  • Government and Civics: learning the pledge of allegiance and national symbols like the American Flag, White House, Statue of Liberty, and the eagle as our national bird

  • History: discussing timelines, sequencing events, learning about things and events from the past versus present
