CONTEMPLATIONS BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SERVICES

Intensive Outpatient Program

Contemplations' intensive outpatient program (IOP) helps treat individuals with moderate to severe substance use disorders. With IOP services, the center offers a variety of services, which include individual counseling, family counseling, group counseling, relapse prevention, life skills development, and an introduction to the self-help community. Services offered in an outpatient setting are a fraction of the cost of an inpatient facility, and the IOP allows clients to remain in their community near their support system.

IOP services provide structure and discipline into the often chaotic lives of clients by delivering healthful ways to interact while in a safe and supportive environment, which is crucial for recovery. Group members advanced in recovery treatment can help lead other members who are less advanced in recovery. This structure provides a venue for group leaders to transmit new information, teach new skills, and guide clients as they practice new behaviors.

Clients will participate in a variety of relapse prevention and skills training techniques. Contemplations' staff will present Relapse prevention materials through several avenues, which may include presentations, talk therapy, videos, and slides to accommodate different learning styles. Group members will analyze high-risk situations and each other's triggers so that strategies can be determined to manage and avoid relapse.

To stay enrolled in Contemplations' intensive outpatient program for substance use, clients must attend a minimum of 9 hours per week of intensive services — Call 304-908-1056 or email info@contemplationsbhs.com to schedule an assessment. WV Medicaid and private insurance accepted.

Goals

Contemplations' Intensive services program goals:

Assertiveness Training:

Clients will practice being assertive and learn the difference in being aggressive, passive, or assertive.

Stress Management:

Clients will learn how to identify stressful situations and how to respond to these situations by using rational problem-solving mechanisms to change flawed beliefs and thinking patterns.

Skills-Development Groups:

These groups allow clients an opportunity to practice newly acquired problem-solving and coping skills in a safe environment.

Substance Refusal Training:

Clients practice methods to refuse substances while role-playing scenarios in which they may be offered drugs or alcohol in real life.

Case Management Services:

Case managers will help facilitate collaboration between services and professionals in and outside the IOP setting to help clients recover and meet their individual goals.
