When we talk about accessibility, we are really concerned with making sure all of our students can use the materials we give them. That also means that they can use our spaces of learning and feel welcome within them. We don't always know who our students are going to be since we could get new students at any time of the year.
So the easiest thing is to think about any possible obstacles to using our materials and feeling comfortable in our spaces and removing them from the get-go.
Representation in materials (who is in your stock photos?)
Exam rooms (who are they impacting?)
Classroom decoration (who is in your posters?)
Language (who understands you?)
Work schedule (who is missing because they have to work?)
Childcare (who is missing because their childcare cancelled?)
Important dates (are you planning celebrations or evaluations during student holidays?)
Worry and anxiety (trauma)
