DIRECTORS
DIRECTOR OF CHOIRS
Mr. Jamieson McCaffity is excited to join the historic McCullough JH choral team after a year at Deer Park HS. This is the beginning of his 17th year in education. He received a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Texas State University. He is always giving a continuous effort towards building a "Culture of Singing" and a "Tradition of Excellence" in all of his programs and this has lead to overwhelming growth and consistent superior ratings at UIL, concert festivals, and individual singing successes.
Previously Mr. McCaffity taught 12 years at Round Rock HS as the Director of Choral Activities, where he built the premier choral department in Central Texas, with countless accolades and Texas All-Staters; and 3 years Taylor ISD where he was the sole director for the district. He also served as the Assistant director of Music Ministry at Bethany United Methodist Church for 11 years. In addition to directing choirs Mr. McCaffity has had an extensive performing career. He has performed in the roles of Sarastro (Mozart's Magic Flute) and Mr. Olsen (Weill's Street Scene) for the Texas State Opera Theater and also performed with the Grammy winning choral ensemble Conspirare under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson. Music is his life and he hopes that it becomes an important part of your life.
Mr McCaffity loves spending time with his family that is comprised of his partner, Meg Jameson who is a chemistry and physics teacher at Humble HS, her son Bradley, his two daughters Maggie and Juliet, and their three dogs Coco, Dougal, and Gellis. When not in a choral rehearsal or with his family, he enjoys playing disc golf, sailing, and of course Longhorn athletics. He is also a member of TMEA, ACDA, TCDA, TMAA, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and PDGA.
