School attendance to your child's overall academic success! Please send your child to school every day unless they are sick. We also encourage any doctor/dentist visit to be scheduled after school when possible. Thank you for your support!
We will be learning about research skills! Students will learn how to identify and gather relevant sources and information to answer the questions they have about their topic, identify primary and secondary sources, and how to cite sources appropriately.
We will be working on a research project, with students researching the animal of their choice. Students will create a research book based on their findings about their animal; learn how to organize their findings in ways that show a logical progression of information, and how to convey their interest in the topic to the reader and make them interested as well.
We will be revisiting multiplication and division concepts, reviewing the different forms of money (including counting coins by values,) and learning about personal financial literacy. "Financial Literacy" includes calculating how money saved can accumulate into a larger amount over time, that saving is an alternative to spending, and how to to identify examples of borrowing and distinguish between responsible and irresponsible borrowing.
We will be learning about food chains, including how to create and describe food chains, identifying producers and consumers to demonstrate how animals depend on other living things.
We will continue learning about economics, including saving and spending, needs and wants, and goods and services. Then, we will explore how science and technology have affected life, past and present. This includes how science and technology have affected communication, transportation, and recreation, as well as how science and technology have affected the ways in which people meet basic needs.
In art, we will review the elements of art and creating fall themed art projects. Each grade will also be starting their Wester art projects.
