Meet Your Directors

Mrs. Klaus

Brooke Klaus is the woodwind director (Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, and Saxophone) at Collins Intermediate School. She is currently in her eighth year of teaching, and sixth year at Collins. Her primary instrument is clarinet. Mrs. Klaus currently teaches all beginning flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone and bassoon classes.

A native Houstonian, Mrs. Klaus graduated from Montgomery High School, then graduated with honors from Sam Houston State University. While at SHSU, she was the Principal Clarinet Player for the SHSU Symphony Orchestra and the SHSU Wind Ensemble.  Mrs. Klaus is an active member in Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association.

Mrs. Klaus is the proud mommy of three precious children, August (7),  Sawyer (5), and Hallie (16m)  

Mr. Yarber

Robby Yarber is the brass director (Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba) at Collins Intermediate.  On top of his teaching duties at Collins, Mr. Yarber is one of the top call trumpeters in the greater Houston area.  

Mr. Yarber is a graduate of Sam Houston State University and a former student of The University of North Texas, where he was a member the One O’ Clock Lab Band. He also performed with the Disneyland All-American College Band and The World Famous Glenn Miller Orchestra. Mr. Yarber has also performed with the Houston Symphony, Theatre Under The Stars (TUTS), and Broadway Across America (Hobby Center Musicals).  Mr. Yarber is a member of the Houston Jazz Orchestra and has performed with some of the most renown musicians in the world.  

Mr. Yarber is an active member of Texas Music Educators Association.

Mr. Klaus

Jordan Klaus is the percussion director at Collins Intermediate.  He works with all things percussion at Collins and also the drumline and percussion ensembles at College Park High School.  

Mr. Klaus graduated from Keller High School in the DFW area before attending Sam Houston State University where he graduated with honors. During his time at SHSU, he was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Symphony Orchestra, SHSU Percussion Ensemble, University Percussion Ensemble, and the Steel Band. Mr. Klaus is an active member in Texas Music Educators Association and Percussive Arts Society.
