Greetings and blessings—I’m Steve Daggett. When the opportunity arose to join CONQUER, I saw a chance to be part of something truly transformative for the Recovery Community. I believe that addiction often begins as a coping mechanism—like any other strategy we turn to in difficult times. Some of these tools may seem magical at first, but they can ultimately do more harm than good. Addiction is one of those strategies that, while providing temporary relief, leads to chemical dependency and long-term consequences. That’s where we come in—to walk alongside people as they discover healthier, more fulfilling paths.
I’m also a person in long-term recovery, living proof that recovery doesn’t have to be miserable. In fact, if it is—you’re doing it wrong. After serving 24 years in the Navy, I retired six years ago and developed a successful recovery program for another organization. Now, CONQUER has given me a fresh opportunity to continue my journey of service, growth, and self-discovery in a new and inspiring way.
I’m supported by an incredible wife and best friend—on a 150-year marriage contract (23 years down, 127 to go!). We have three amazing children: a son becoming a man to behold, a brilliant and ever-evolving daughter about to graduate, and a high-energy younger daughter who keeps us all on our toes. Our home is rounded out by a grumpy cat, a tiny dog who still can’t decide if he likes me, and a turtle we rescued over a decade ago.
It’s a privilege to be part of the CONQUER family. There’s real work to be done—and an island to CONQUER!
