My life experiences as the son, grandson and great grandson of alcoholics and addicts, preceding my own twenty-three years of active alcoholism and addiction, gives me a boots-on-the-ground background with the struggles of addiction which has led directly to a life in active recovery which I gratefully appreciate in twenty-four-hour increments, one day at a time, and have been doing so for over six years. My main purpose is to help the still-suffering addict/alcoholic achieve a life in recovery as the best version of themselves they can be, which is in us all, sometimes buried deeper in some than in others. We will find that version together, hell-or-high-water.
I believe that relationships help us to define who we are and what we can become. Most of us can trace our successes to pivotal relationships and I strive to help in building those relationships as the foundation to recovery.
As a Peer Support Counselor with CONQUER, it is my responsibility and my honor to face the flames of addiction with courage and humility. I take this responsibility seriously and make it my purpose each day to support those around me to face those same flames with strength and support because unfortunately the fire will rage on from generation to generation and they are too strong to face alone. It is our shared responsibility to have the courage to turn and face those flames and bring peace to our ancestors, spare our children and save our own lives.
