Writing Diagnostics

What to look for in a writing diagnostic and why:

Written language is a keystone tool at the core of how our world runs (pretty crazy if you think about it), and a writing sample is an awesome first step to toning and tuning language skills. While you can focus on many small adjustment to writing styles and techniques, perhaps the most impactful contribution writing lends to a student is structure.

How to give a writing diagnostic:

Assign your student a prompt (which can be found below, sorted by grade level. The response only needs to be around a paragraph, and your student should write their piece on their own time; it's very casual and always VERY FUNNY TO READ, at least I enjoy them a lot. Just make sure to clarify the prompt and set a due date, set aside your own time to review the response privately.

Go to the "Writing Diagnostic Interpretation" page to find more information on how to view key elements of the response.
