What's a FAQ?
Frequently Asked Question
Do we use practice records?
Nope. We do mark practice though in class participation & ability. We will give you challenges that requires you to practice to be successful as an individual and as an ensemble. Practice is a must!
Do we have auditions?
Nope! Most of our ensembles are open to everyone. A few of our ensembles (pit band, for example) requires a very high level of musicianship. Therefore Mr. Lischynski will seek out the most dedicated and advanced instrumentalists he can find!
Where do I get an instrument?
From us! In the Seven Oaks School Division we offer all band instruments for free (and most supplies!). Thank a trustee! If you would to upgrade your gear, let us know and we'll help you find quality stuff. P.S. - better gear means better music. If you or your child is interested, let us know if you have any questions.
My instrument is broken - what do I do?!
Step one - don't touch! Bring it back to the school and have your teacher look at it. Luckily we both have experience working in a repair shop. If we cant fix it, we have a repair contract with a very reputable shop in the city. We'll send it it and have it repaired by a professional.
We have LOTS! Here is a link to our Calendar. At the beginning of every year we ask every student to make their calendars with their performances. You are expected to attend our performance. Check out the Calendar page for all of our dates! It would also be good to review our Concert Attire FAQ as well! Did we mention we have a Calendar page with all the gigs listed? CHECK IT OUT!
Concert Attire!
What do I wear for concerts? ALL black dress clothes. Your best clothes that are all black. No variations or colours at all. Our goal is to keep our performances about the music, not about our outfits. To make your dress clothes a worth while investment we will have all ensembles perform in all black in all grades.
