It’s been a blast working on this show! Its messages about community and loving yourself no matter what hit hard for me, especially in the world we’re currently living in. As my first time playing in a pit orchestra, this show will hold a special place in my heart. Huge congrats to everyone involved in the show!

Prom was definitely a highlight from my own high school experience, and an experience that everyone should be able to have. A musical that celebrates the many forms and meanings that a prom can take and provide for different people is really meaningful to me and countless other youth across the world. I am blown away by the sense of community and attention to detail exhibited by everyone in the cast, crew, pit, and directors, and so excited to perform this fun show!

I am so excited to play in the pit for The Prom! Especially in these times of uncertainty, I think it is important to celebrate queer joy wherever we can. I’m so glad I’m able to do so with such a wonderful group of people and I hope that this show inspires others to be proud of their unruly hearts.

We need community and an emphasis on supporting each other more than ever and "The Prom" encapsulates it so well in a time where we desperately need it. I adore the story, love, and care put into this entire show and am so honored to be part of helping it come alive. Make sure to care for others in the ways you can! I'm playing Saxophone in this musical that's my care for others, which should mean something.

I am excited to play in "The Prom" because of the sense of community being in a show brings. To me, being in the pit has always allowed me to better connect with people over common interests and over the message we're trying to share through our performances. The message of "The Prom" is really important and I think it truly emphasizes the necessity of community, which I always seem to find when I'm in a pit band.

I am so excited to be in the pit of "The Prom" because I believe that this show is very relevant and important in regards to the current societal atmosphere. As a queer woman, I find myself relating to Emma and her struggles but also the joy that can come with being authentically yourself. Before Conn, I never had a chance to explore what being queer really meant to me, so this feels very full circle getting to play in a show that is explicitly about that. Thanks for coming!

I'm excited to be part of The Prom pit because the score beautifully reflects the show's humor and heart. This production carries a powerful message about inclusivity and self-expression, making it especially meaningful to be involved. I'm grateful for the opportunity to help bring this story to life alongside such a hardworking cast and crew, and I can't wait to share its impact with the audience

I'm excited to collaborate with the Connecticut College Theater program, as well as play under the musical direction of my friend, David Marottolo, all for the first time. After subbing in on a couple of productions of The Prom in 2024, I’m looking forward to playing my first full run of the show this year. It’s energizing to perform with an enthusiastic cast, crew, and strong student musicians, as evident from the sitzprobe.

To me, this show represents an opportunity to uplift queerness in a totally novel community. Thank you to the cast and crew for cultivating an immediately welcoming environment. Fun, creativity, inclusivity, and empathy have been hallmarks of my experience with queerness... and I've found all of the above (and more) in my brief time playing for "The Prom". Thank you!
