We are preparing for re-entry. The buildings, classrooms, and teachers are preparing instruction and safety protocols for our students to be on campus. A safety protocol plan will be published on the website for all stakeholders to review. Pathway 1 means students will return to the classroom on September 8th depending on closure orders from national, state, or local agencies. Having all students on campus is our goal. It is the best instructional approach allowing us to meet student needs- academically, socially, and emotionally. Students attending instruction on campus will also have the ability to participate in extracurricular activities.
The Texas Education Agency has approved two different virtual (at-home) school models in response to the COVID-19 pandemic for districts to utilize in addition to on-campus instruction for the school year.
real time/live, virtual instruction between teachers and students.
teachers provide pre-recorded videos of instruction and guided support while students engage in learning materials on their own time and interact daily with the teacher.
Connally ISD students participating in virtual instruction (asynchronous) will be required to engaged in learning activities on their own time during the school day, interacting daily with the teacher(s) via computer or other electronic devices, or over the phone. Teachers will post an assignment/activity each day and give guided support under this model of instruction. The student will be considered enrolled in Connally ISD for attendance and funding purposes. Students enrolled in virtual learning will not be allowed to participate in extracurricular activities.
For students participating in asynchronous instruction to be counted for attendance purposes, they must be engaged in one of the following ways for each enrolled class during each school day:
Daily progress in the Learning Management System (LMS) as defined by Connally ISD plan; or our LMS is SeeSaw for grades Pk-2 and Canvas for grades 3-12.
Daily progress via teacher-student interactions as defined in the Connally ISD plan; or
Completion/submission of daily assignments from student to teacher (potentially via email, online, or mail).
Per Texas Education Code (TEC) 25.092, students must attend 90 percent of a course in order to be awarded credit for the course and/or to be promoted to the next grade. This requirement remains in effect during the 2020-2021 school year. Students who are not logged into the class are marked absent. Truancy will be monitored
Connally ISD students will have the option to either attend school in person or virtually during the 2020-2021 school year. Once an option is selected, students will not have the ability to change from Virtual Instruction to In-Person Instruction or vice-versa until the end of the current six-week grading period. Choosing to be a virtual student is a nine-week commitment to this learning model. Parents and students must be fully aware of the requirements and expectations of this instructional model before selecting this mode of instruction.
Grading policy will be consistent with the guidelines in our campus handbook for all assessments and assignments.
As a part of our return to school plan, we are listing the following classes as exemptions from Virtual Learning due the inability of meeting lab/class project requirements or inability to offer the hands-on materials needed to complete the content or TEKS requirements. If your child signed up for these classes, we will offer an opportunity to change their schedule or the option to attend on-campus learning. You may contact our school counselors for more information.
