This is meant to be an opportunity for socialization and a chance to get together outside the usual business of the day. That said, there are some rules that keep the game going and make it a little more fun for everyone.
Snacks and beverages are always welcome. If questioning the quantity and quality of beverages, please remeber that you will have to walk home through campus.
If you are seated and ready to play at the appointed time, you will receive an extra 10% above your buy-in (100 units). If you pay with exact change, you will get an extra 5% above your buy-in (50 units). So, you can start a T1000 tournament with 1150 in chips! There are no bonuses for rebuys.
You may rebuy once up through the fourth blind level, or an hour and twenty minutes into the game. If people keep rebuying, then the game never ends.
In the game, the minimum bet is the big blind during that round. The minimum raise is the current bet or the current raise.
When it is time to color in chips, any odd chips that do not get colored up evenly will be rounded up to the next larger chip value (two red 5s become one green 25).
In a multi-table game, the number of players at each table will be kept as even as possible. Players will be moved based on a random card draw.
The blinds will move up in twenty-minute increments. If cards have been dealt before the timer goes off, then the hand will be finished before moving to the next blind level.
If a player gets moved or eliminated, the blinds still move as if they were there. In other words, the blinds do not skip people just because someone else leaves the table.
It is helpful and faster to have one person deal and another person shuffle for the duration of a blind level. If people would like to trade off jobs at each level, that will be fine. Eliminated players are welcome to deal and shuffle if they wish to watch more of the game.
The top 25% of finishers (rounding up) will win part of the buy-in pot. The lowest prize is usually just the buy-in money back. The top prize is usually about half the pot.
