How to Apply

The Application Process is Closed. We hope you will attend the event on March 2nd, 2019. Link to Eventbrite for free tickets.

If you think you or someone you know would make a great speaker for TEDxYouthConcordCarlisle2019, then you’ve come to the right place!

The link to the application form is at the bottom of this page.... we hope that you read through the ins and outs before starting your application.

To be eligible to be a speaker, someone must:

* be aged 13-19. They do not need to be enrolled at a school as a student.

* be able to physically attend, in person, the TED event on March 2nd at Concord Carlisle High School

* have an “idea worth spreading” that you are willing, able and enthusiastic to share

* submit to us your completed application on or before December 3rd, 2018

We are committed to assembling a diverse range of speakers, and encourage applications from a wide variety of gender, cultural, ethnic, racial and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Some tips:

* You do not need to have your whole speech already written. Give us the “elevator pitch,” the quick, 300-words-or-less summary.

* We are “looking for ideas, not speakers” – sell us on your ideas and achievements first, and yourself as a person second

* Make sure your ideas are in some way grounded in/informed by facts, research and other reliable, tangible evidence.

* Including some personal narrative is okay, but make sure the main idea is something that can relate to and inspire a wide range of people

* We cannot accept talks that are sponsored by a corporation or other organization, advertise a product, promote a religion or include “pseudoscience.”

Other important info:

* We are seeking to assemble a list of 15 speakers.

* The selection committee will be comprised of faculty and students from Concord Carlisle High School. Members of the selection committee are not eligible to be speakers.

* Decisions will be announced before December break.

* Accepted speakers will be paired with a faculty “coach” to help them develop and finalize their speech.

* Speeches must be in final form by the end of January

* We plan to have a “dress rehearsal” in advance of the event, and will share more details about this as they develop.
