Welcome to Ceramics! This course is perfect for those brand new to working with clay. You'll get a complete introduction to the craft, with plenty of time in the studio to create your own unique pieces. By the end of the semester, you'll have a portfolio showcasing your skills and creativity.

We'll cover various techniques through demonstrations and hands-on projects. You'll also learn about the rich history of ceramics and see inspiring examples of contemporary ceramic art. To further enhance your understanding, we'll watch films and slideshows throughout the semester. Short quizzes and warm-up activities will help you track your progress.

Goals/Objectives:

• Master the Basics: Students will learn three fundamental hand-building techniques, providing a strong foundation for further exploration.

• Clay Care: Students will understand how to properly prepare clay and maintain its workable consistency, essential skills for successful projects.

• Embrace Creativity: Students will be encouraged to think outside the box, experiment, and develop their own artistic voice through creative problem-solving.
