Raptor Center

Carolina Raptor Center's marketing director led me in two ways: inspirational about the mission to save and rehab injured birds and use those "patients" to educate people — and she also had a great sense of humor. This is where we connected. It was a strategy though: we wanted to be a little funny, a little gross but always accurate about raptors and this was to get attention of children, the influencers of family weekends.  The Arts & Science Council, Adams Outdoor and my agency, HMH, made this vigorous local campaign possible.

Take Flight event

While at HMH, I conceptualized, designed and wrote this event campaign for the Raptor Center. The strategy of "Take Flight", which would become the event name, would play well in North Carolina as it's the “First In Flight” state where the Wright brothers made history at the Kill Devils Hill dunes on The Outer Banks.

The logo was recreated as an airline-style wings pin to be handed out to every event attendee. Art direction utilized a Wright brothers’ era look and feel combined with cheeky headlines that paid tribute to the raptors, the true originators of flight 150 million years ago. Campaign included online animated banner ads, street banners, direct mail, event pin and invitation.

Having the right media partner means everything. Adams Outdoor has long been a champion for great creative ideas and community needs. They supported with many billboard and poster locations and also scored this killer overpass!
