We are coming toward the end of the 2023 school year, and we have some special news. We have been informed that Mrs. Prinz, our Vice-Principal, is going to be the next principal of JFK! But you might wonder, how did she get to this point in her life? Let’s dive in.
Mrs. Prinz was born in Richland, Washington (State) in January of 1981. Mrs. Prinz first became a teacher back in 2003 and she started out teaching in Boston, Massachusetts. She then moved to Long Island and started teaching for over a decade in the Wantagh school district out in Nassau County. After that, she took a little time off from teaching for her family and helped them out.
She started to miss being in the classrooms with her students, so she found Comsewogue School District. She loved how Comsewogue is a family-based community and how she felt so at home with them and how they always put the kids first and their needs first. She started as a substitute teacher, then moved up to a teaching assistant, then a teacher, and now an administrator!
But now, she’s moving up once more to become the principal of JFK starting the 2023-2024 school year. Mosca says “It’s been a pleasure working with her, from the second we interviewed her, we knew she was going to be the right fit here” He is very excited to see Mrs. Prinz moving up in the Comsewogue School District.
Even though she is really sad to leave the high school, she is incredibly excited to be a principal. Mrs. Prinz makes a point when she says that “Middle school is a really crucial part of our lives as it helps us develop who we are and what we want to do with our lives when we grow older.”
We are all looking forward to seeing Mrs. Prinz keep moving up and keep moving forward. Hey, maybe even one day she’ll be the superintendent, but that's a story for another day!

Here at Comsewogue, we teach each other valuable lessons on how to be kind, disciplined, and intelligent. Some awards are given out to students and teachers as a gift for upholding these values. Not only do the students help each other learn these lessons, but we have some pretty great teachers as well. This month, the staff member of the month award was presented to Mr. Frimmer, one of the hardest-working teachers around.
The staff member of the month award is an honor here at Comsewogue. To be presented with this award is a symbol of a great person who upholds and goes beyond expectations for the sake of our education. The award is given out once a month to the most outstanding teachers and faculty members who have met the demands of the title.
Mr. Frimmer is one of the best teachers and people around at Comsewogue. A true definition of hard work and discipline. He is the school's bowling coach, leader of the union, and the best health teacher you could ask for. Mr. Frimmer takes pride in the health education he gives to us students, some of which may even save our own lives.
Not only are these morals respectable amongst peers, but the students themselves. Mr. Frimmer’s students respect him as a teacher and look up to him as a role model for the difficult choices that come with life. We also asked Mr. Frimmer ourselves what it took to win such a prestigious award and what it means to him. He stated, “it's an honor to be voted on because it's by the entire staff.” Along with such pressing questions, we asked Mr. Frimmer how he would be celebrating such an accomplishment. He exclaimed, “I'm just going to keep doing what I do. Have fun in the class.”
Morality is something earned through doing the right thing when nobody is near. With such hard work, discipline, and proper morals, Mr. Frimmer shows what it means to be the staff member of the month for Comsewogue High School.
Behind every good school, there’s a group of staff members who care. Secretary at Comsewogue High School, Ms. Marchese is the perfect example. Ms. Marchese is very caring, kind, and hardworking. When interviewing around the school many teachers, staff members, and students had nothing but kind words to say about her and her accomplishments in this school.
Ms. Marchese has been working at Comsewogue High School for the last 20 years, and throughout her time here she has proved to be a great secretary for Mr. Mosca. Starting off by interviewing Ms. Marchese herself, to get to know her job, daily routines, and work ethic. In an interview with Ms. Marchese, she was asked why she felt she won staff member of the month. She said, “I try to help out everybody as much as I can, I will do anything that anybody needs and I will go the extra distance to do it.” She is clearly very passionate about her job and the people she works alongside.
The next question was what responsibilities a job like hers requires. She replied, “I do attendance for the teachers, I handle all the clubs and teachers who want to be advisors, there’s a lot that goes into it.” Ms. Marchese does a lot of the behind-the-scenes work that students never really think about or notice so she is a great asset to Comsewogue.
One of the final questions was why she loves Comsewogue. “There are many reasons I love Comsewogue; to me, it is a community that comes together lovingly with open arms and they are always there for each other.” She really described the community of Comsewogue with love and compassion and that’s why she is such a special part of Comsewogue.
The next person interviewed is her good friend and principal of Comsewogue High School, Mr. Mosca. Mr. Mosca is a very good friend of Ms. Marchese’s. In the interview with Mr. Mosca I asked him how it has been working with Ms. Marchese over the years to which he replied, “It’s been fantastic; One of the best parts of coming back to this school was being able to work with Ms. Marchese again, she is a constant professional and puts so much thought and care into everything.” Mr. Mosca really put into words what a great job Ms. Marchese does and the impression she leaves on others.
The next question Mr. Mosca was asked was why he thought Ms. Marchese was elected staff member of the month. He replied, “It was a no-brainer; It was nice to see how many staff members also selected her because of her value here; She’s like the unsung hero of Comsewogue.” He and all the other staff members realize and appreciate all the effort she puts into her job and into our school.
The final question asked was what his favorite memory is with Ms. Marchese, to which he stated, “Even just the personal touch, I had a birthday party for someone in my family and she was right there even if it wasn’t a school-related issue.” This response shows how much Ms. Marchese is willing to go the extra mile for others.
The district of Comsewogue really cares about and can rely on Ms. Marchese for anything. She brings a lot to our school and does an amazing job at being our secretary!
