Firstly, I would like to say congratulations to all the seniors on the Comsewogue fall teams. The teams all play their best, especially the seniors since this is their last time playing on the Comsewogue team. Towards the end of the fall season of sports, senior nights were hosted for each team. The senior night is held to congratulate senior athletes on all their accomplishments throughout the time they have played on the field/ courts of Comsewogue High School.
The 2023 seniors of the fall sports teams had their senior night at their last home game. The Comsewogue volleyball teams had an incredible senior night. All the seniors were recognized and played an amazing game to end their last time playing on the Comsewogue volleyball court. I’ve asked Jake Gulyansky how he thought the senior night was. He said, “ Senior night is very fun, it’s very good, it's very well planned and it was very nice, it was a very good last year for us seniors.” I also asked him how he felt knowing it was his last time playing on the Comsewogue court, “it was very emotional, it was very sad, we loved this sport we've been playing since we were 9th grade even 8th grade some of us and it was just sad, we don't know if we’ll play in college or not but it was a good way to end the season on the court even though we lost it was a good game”. He replied, I also interviewed another senior on the boys' volleyball team, Jack Montoya, and asked him how he thought the senior night was. He said “senior night went very well. There were a lot of decorations and a lot of fundraising for our program, we got a lot of people to show up and a lot of fans and we played very well”. When I asked how he thought his last season on the volleyball team was he said, “It was really good, we had a lot of fun with our 8 seniors and it was a very good season and we got to know each other a lot better”.
The Comsewogue soccer teams had a fantastic season. The boys and girls had a great night playing their last game on the Comsewogue soccer field, they played their absolute best and both teams gave it their all to make playoffs.
The Comsewogue girls' field hockey team had a great time at their senior night. The girls are going to miss playing field hockey at the Comsewogue field. They definitely gave it their best at their last game home.
The Comsewogue Warrior football team had an amazing pink-out game for their senior night. All the seniors got recognized, taking pictures with their families. Many Comsewogue students came out to support the team showing up in all pink supporting the Warriors senior night.
The Comsewogue girls' tennis team also had a great time at their senior night. They played their best, ending their last home game on the tennis court.
The senior night for the Comsewogue warrior athletes was a very special night for the seniors for their hard work, dedication, and their commitment over the years they've played at Comsewogue. The senior nights were a great way to end off the last home games for the seniors.

The Comsewogue Boys Soccer team showed out for a second season in a row due to the countless hours put into work every day on the field. Even though this season ended shorter than expected the boys finished with a 7-3 league record claiming the 9 seed in the playoffs. Starting the season against 4 non-league opponents, the team was up against a challenge, and even starting a little slow and going 1-3 there was a lot to be proud of and a lot to improve.
The first game of the season was played at Hauppauge. It was a slow start but with 8 minutes left in the first half, Julian Dicecco would score the first goal of the season giving Comsewogue a 1-0 lead going into halftime. “It felt great,” Julian said, “To start the season scoring my first goal was pretty cool.” The Boys would go on to win 4-1 with other goals by Captains Dylan Raspanti, Ryan Harding, and Striker Albert Morales who sealed the game with a penalty shot. Following that game, the team would finish out the three non-league games losing all three.
After going 7-3 in the regular season it wasn’t the record anyone was expecting. The previous year Comsewogue won their League and finished as League IV Champions going 13-1-1. After falling short of everyone's expectations that season and losing in the first round of playoffs, people thought that would be it. It’s over. 8 seniors will be graduating and the team will be completely different in 2022. Now we are here, 7-3 in the playoffs again. A couple of highlights of the season consisted of huge wins against Shoreham Wading River winning 2-0 (Goals scored by Jake Sokolowski, 2) and another massive win to clinch a playoff spot beating Eastport South Manor 2-0 on their home field (Goals scored by Ryan Harding, 2).
But sadly, all things come to an end. After getting the 9 seed for the playoffs, they would go on to lose 1-0 at Islip and be knocked out of the playoffs for the 3rd straight year. Nonetheless, it was another unforgettable season for this team. Seniors including Ryan Harding, Patrick Griffin, Yecson Ortega, Tristen Hardy, and Zack Pronsky will be greatly missed next season providing great leadership and coming ready to give 100% every day. But that doesn’t mean the boys are done. Now the team will be looking to returning players to provide the leadership the seniors did, including Aidan Bayer, Dale Allison, Dylan Raspanti, and Jake Sokolowski who are all nominated for Honors awards following this season.

With the football season coming to an end, the Warriors reflect on the hard work and dedication put into the season. It all started back in August with the beginning of camp. The practices were hard with intense running and in-game scenarios. Sometimes the team would have two practices in a day with only a few hours in between to prepare. The hard practices in the hot sun really expressed the discipline and determination of the whole team. This determination was put on display as the Warriors led into the season beating Rocky Point in a game scrimmage.
After lots of hard work, the season was finally ready to take off. Everyone on and off the team was extremely excited for Warrior football to come back around. As they prepared for their first game of the season against Islip, friends and family prepared to finally see the team in action with high hopes for what they are capable of. However, the Warriors fell to Islip in a heartbreaking loss only a few plays away.
Although it was a tough loss, the team really showed how much they were capable of by winning for the majority of the game, and now had an idea of what they needed to work on. They proved doubters wrong and weren't going to give up so easily. As the season went on, injuries devastated the team with many players being forced to play positions and be in situations they'd never been in before. Even through the tough losses and injuries the Warriors still persevered and worked harder than ever before.
With the last game of the season closing in, the Warriors prepared to send their senior players out on a positive note. The Warriors took the field against Wyandanch and ran away with the game-winning 56-0. The seniors were able to reach the end zone with ease to create a memory of their final high school game that they surely won't forget for the rest of their lives.
Once the game was over the feeling of emotion settled in. For some seniors, this season would be the end of their football career as they move on to bigger things in their own journey. As they walked out of the locker room a sense of accomplishment and a new beginning overtook everyone on the team. As for the underclassmen, they would begin a new journey of preparing for the next season with high hopes.

The Comsewogue cheerleading program had a very successful homecoming this past weekend. I am so thankful to be a part of this wonderful program, while we have been working months to show off a great routine coached by Alexa Sanalitro. The varsity team did very well, hitting all their stunts and executed it perfectly, the junior varsity team did so good as well, we had the little warriors come and cheer with the varsity members for the first quarter of the game and it sure was a new experience for the little ones. They seemed like they were having the time of their lives!
Now that homecoming is over, the varsity cheer team has a new focus to work on competition season. We have two minutes and thirty seconds to jump, tumble, stunt , dance and do our cheer. two minutes and thirty seconds where we just pour our heart out into cheer. We hope to go as far as nationals this year like we have gone in the past, but first we need a routine.
A few weeks ago we choreographed our competition routine for 7 hours, a very long and tiring time. I asked some of my teammates how they felt about this routine we learned and we got great responses back. Everyone loves this new routine and I'm very excited for this upcoming season.
Our first competition is December 4th, almost a month away. We will have to drill the routine over and over until it's perfect. We have regionals on December 14th and before you know it it will be here, we will practice almost everyday for two hours. at regionals a select group of teams will get a bid to nationals. This is our only way to get a bid this season, everything will lead up to regionals for the next month and a half.
The Comsewogue cheer program is doing everything we can to fundraise for nationals in 2023. We are currently selling reefs for more support to help us go to nationals! It is a very big expense going to Florida with 16 kids so we need every help we can get, the money also goes to music for our routine and choreography which are both way more expensive then I bet what you think. The junior varsity team also needs music and choreography. All the money we get goes to the three teams' Comsewogue cheer every little bit helps!
