Why is this interim solution needed in my area?
Many drinking water wells in the region are contaminated. Recent water quality analyses show that many wells have high levels of several contaminants that pose a risk to public health. These include nitrate, arsenic, 1,2,3 trichloropropane, and others. Factsheets on health risks associated with each contaminant are available here: communitywatercenter.org/guides_and_factsheets

This program is intended for income-qualifying households that rely on contaminated drinking water wells.
Contact Community Water Center at (831) 288-0450 on eligibility and for more information regarding a free well testing program to determine if your well is contaminated.

How much does this service cost?
The delivered bottled water is free to all qualifying households. This service is funded through the State Water Resources Control Board’s Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) program (https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/safer/). Community Water Center has a contract with the State Water Resources Control Board to implement this program.
How do deliveries work?

Damm Good Water, will be the provider for Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito Counties, delivering water directly to your home once every two weeks. During your first delivery, you will receive a water pump and set number of reusable 5-gallon bottles based on your household size.
Water Delivery Instructions:
Please leave empty bottles in a designated drop off location the night before delivery day.
Damm Good Water will replace empty bottles every two weeks on a set schedule. If you forget to put out your bottles, they will not be replaced until the following delivery date.
If a bottle or water pump is lost or damaged, the participant will be responsible for paying the replacement cost of $8.00 per bottle or replacing the water pump (~$12 per pump).

Community Water Center requests that you provide at least 30 days notice prior to cancelling service or if you move from the delivery address.
