Regional Bottled Water Program for Central Coast Households

Receive bottled water delivered to your home!

Drinking water with high levels of contaminants have been found throughout the Central Coast. Particularly high levels have been found in drinking water sources in or near agricultural areas. Through state funding, the Regional Bottled Water Program provides a safe drinking water source for households with contaminated well water.

*You may qualify if the well you rely on for drinking water has a contaminant greater than the primary drinking water standard for nitrate, arsenic, 1,2,3 – TCP, or other contaminants.

Program Description

The Central Coast Regional Bottled Water Program provides an immediate source of safe drinking water for low-income households that rely on contaminated drinking water wells through a bottled water delivery service. Nitrate, arsenic, 123-trichloropropane, and other contaminants pose a risk to human health, thus making drinking water unsafe for both drinking and cooking. Community Water Center has a contract with the State Water Resources Control Board to implement this program and will work with all program participants to support long-term drinking water solutions.

Program Eligibility

All program participants are required to provide the following information:

program guidelines

Equipment: During your first delivery, you will be given a water pump. If the water pump is lost or damaged, the participant will be responsible for replacing the water pump at ~$12 per pump.

Cost of Service: The delivered bottled water is free to all qualifying households. This service is funded through the State Water Resources Control Board’s Safe and Affordable Funding for Equity and Resilience (SAFER) program (https://www.waterboards.ca.gov/safer/).

Water Bottles (5-gallon): During your first delivery, you will receive a set number of reusable 5-gallon bottles based on your household size. This represents the maximum number of bottles you can receive for each delivery. If a bottle is lost or damaged, the participant will be responsible for paying the replacement cost of $8.00 per bottle.

Delivery Schedule: A water delivery company, Damm Good Water, will replace empty bottles every two weeks on a set schedule. Please leave empty bottles in a designated drop off location (front door, front gate, etc.) the night before your scheduled delivery day. If you forget to put out your bottles, they will not be replaced until the following delivery date.

Cancellation of Service: Community Water Center requests that you provide at least 30 days notice prior to cancelling service or if you move from the delivery address.
