The University of Palermo organizes a post-graduate specialization course in "Econophysics and Computational Finance". The 200-hour course includes 44 hours of lessons, 44 hours of tutorials and 112 hours of individual study. The course will be held in the months of July, August and September 2022 with lessons and exercises scheduled from July 18th to July 30th.
Admission to the Course will take place following application and evaluation by the Examining Commission, composed of the Course Director and at least two other members, professors or researchers designated by the Course Council. The Committee wil evaluate the "Curriculum Vitae et Studiorum" and the qualifications presented by each candidate. The call for admission can be found here. The deadline for the application for admission is Monday 11 April 2022. Required qualification: Master degree or higher.
The Postgraduate Course aims to provide master's, doctoral and post-doc students with theoretical knowledge, computational skills and industrial practices concerning the aspects of price discovery, information filtering, statistical modeling and validation, scenario simulation, asset allocation, natural language processing, probabilistic reasoning based on the principle of coherence, analysis and modeling of the dynamics of the order book (with particular regard to automated trading) in the main world financial markets.
The official language of the course is English.
Qualification obtained
At the end of the training course, students who have attended classroom teaching activities and completed individual study will receive, signed by the Course Director, the certificate of participation in the Post Graduate Specialization Course in "Econophysics and Computational Finance".
Scholarships
In order to facilitate the participation to the Course, 4 (four) scholarships are available, each of an amount equal to € 300,00 (three hundred/00), to partially cover the enrolment costs, assigned according to the ranking drawn up during the admission phase of the Course. Those who intend to apply for one of the above-mentioned scholarships must indicate this in their application form.
