Redo That AUP: A Practical Guide to Create Culturally Competent Tech Agreements
January 31, 2022
As more schools offer 1:1 tech use, students are using school-provided devices to engage with their peers, tinker online, and learn. More and more schools are struggling to update their tech policies to make them relevant. When was the last time your school examined its Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)? Or created a new one? How can you ensure your policies are culturally competent and reinforce students' online strengths? Join Common Sense Education's Jamie Nuñez and Sue Thotz and learn the foundational steps needed to create a culturally competent AUP. The interactive session will invite participants to review their tech agreements with others, explore must-haves digital citizenship descriptors, and provide practical implementation tips to roll out to students. Come for the tech agreement horror stories and leave with a clear plan to help your students feel valued as digital advocates. This is a Common Sense Connected Schools educator professional development session (not appropriate for parents/caregivers).
