In the heart of Northeast Texas, the Commerce Band has grown from humble beginnings into a powerhouse of musical excellence, student leadership, and community pride. For generations, our program has inspired students to reach beyond their limits, find their voice through music, and take pride in being part of something bigger than themselves.
Founded on a belief that every student deserves the chance to shine, the Commerce Band has become a cornerstone of Commerce ISD’s Fine Arts Department. What began as a small-town marching band is now a consistent UIL State Marching Band participant, a concert band recognized across the state, and a thriving jazz program making waves across East Texas and the DFW area.
Our ensembles have performed on the most prestigious stages—from UIL competitions to regional festivals—and we take just as much pride in our small-town pep rallies, community parades, and Friday night lights. Every note, every step, and every performance reflects the passion and perseverance of our students, staff, and supporters.
One of our proudest partnerships is our long-standing connection with East Texas A&M University, just minutes from our high school campus. This unique proximity has allowed us to foster deep, meaningful collaborations—from shared performances and mentorships to access to college-level music opportunities. Many of our students go on to become ETAMU students and music educators themselves, continuing the cycle of mentorship and musical growth.
We are proud to work alongside ETAMU faculty and students, who serve as mentors, clinicians, and friends to our band family. Our joint efforts have strengthened both institutions and created a pipeline of musicians and educators dedicated to excellence and service.
At the Commerce Band, we don’t just make music—we make memories. We build future leaders. We celebrate every student’s success, no matter how big or small. Our alumni span the nation, many of them still connected by the values they learned here: discipline, creativity, and a relentless commitment to doing things the right way.
This is more than a program—it’s a legacy. And we’re just getting started.
