Yep. That's me....standing in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii....in front of the USS Arizona Memorial....wearing a graduation robe the day I got my Ed.S from Piedmont College. When it came to deciding to go to graduation in the North Georgia mountains or spend ten days in Hawaii, it was a no brainer, but I did promise this photo would happen.
So you have somehow stumbled upon my classroom page. Either you wanted to come here or you were looking for this Robin Richards: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robin_Richards. I won't judge if you're looking for the hockey guy. Hockey is a decent game (and if you can read French, better still. Thank goodness for Google translate.)
If you were looking for your teacher named Robin J. Richards at Commerce HS, you came to the correct place. If you haven't figured it out already, I have an odd sense of humor. You have to when you learn about history at times. As you go through your class with me, you'll find I love history. I mean I really *LOVE* history. Jury is still out if that makes me a "history nerd" but we all know the outcome. I loved it when I was a little Mr. Richards. I guess growing up in a town known for many things, including two major events during the Civil War, makes you interested in the past.
And yes, that's me yelling "Play Ball!" at the first ever Teachers' Night held in SunTrust Park. Quite funny how that all came about.
Ok....enough of that. You want the basics on me I guess. Well here goes:
I am a native Georgian. Yes, we still do exist. I was born in Marietta and raised in Kennesaw.
I am a Double Dawg from UGA!
I also have a degree from Piedmont College, whose graduation I skipped to go to Hawaii. The family was cool with it. :)
I participated in the Georgia Redcoat Marching Band. I enjoyed it so much, I literally wrote the book on them. Seriously...
And yes, if you get one, I'll gladly sign it for you.
I have visited all 50 US States, but not all 50 US Capitols. Those are in gray below.
I was a contestant on "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" in 2018. Don't believe me? Watch below.
I will soon be a contestant on a new show called "The Perfect Line." Don't know when it'll air but I am sure you'll found out.
I'm known for once owning a Tesla Model 3. The previous bullet point *may* have helped a little bit. Now it's a Mustang Mach-E.
Oh, and I bought a T-shirt of Mt. St. Elias. Trolling yourself can be fun at times.
Capitols visited as of July 29, 2024
I have visited 28 Presidential gravesites in the US. I have taken selfies at 22 of them. It gives me an excuse to get back to Massachusetts/New England and get them Adams boys again.
I have also started to taking selfies at state Capitols. While I have visited 40 state capitals, I've only started selfies the summer of 2017. Why I didn't do this in Hawaii is beyond me. Guess I gotta go back someday. Darn.
Again. Seriously. I have proof. It's the subtab under "About."
I finished UGA in 2 years 9 months. AP credits helped. It was also the dumbest thing I ever did.
TLDR: stay in college for the allotted time but don't be like this guy...
I am a Jeopardy! addict (and yes I have fully embraced Step 1- admitting you have an addiction). I have tried out several times. I can be seen yelling at the contestants on TV for not knowing the most basic of things, like football.....this was the most painful sequence I've ever seen in my life (and BTW, I would have swept that category).
