Tech Tip #2 - Use GoGuardian to temporarily unblock websites for your students
What: You can now use GoGuardian to temporarily unblock websites for your entire class during a class session.
Why: If a site you need is blocked mid-lesson, you don’t have to abandon your plan or submit a work order request. The new teacher override feature lets you allow access just for your class session.
How:
When you have a session running for your class, you’ll see the following screen when a student has accessed a blocked website:
Click “Unblock for class”, and then click “Unblock Website” on the confirmation page.
When your session ends, the website will return to being blocked.
NOTE: See the PDF below for more thorough instructions and information about this new feature.
Bonus tip: You can also use GoGuardian to check if a website will be blocked for students before you assign it or before your lesson begins. Just click “Check if a website is blocked” at the top of the Classrooms page of GoGuardian and paste in a website URL.
Tech Tip #1 - Access Google Drive from File Explorer on a desktop PC
What: You can access your Google Drive directly from Windows File Explorer on a classroom or office desktop PC using the Google Drive desktop app.
Why: This lets you open, save, and organize Drive files just like local files - no browser required. It’s especially helpful for quickly opening documents, dragging files into folders, or saving files from other programs directly to Drive.
How:
Press the Windows key on the keyboard or click Search on the taskbar.
Type “drive”
Click on “Google Drive”
Sign in with your school Google account. (Skip “Choose folders to sync to Google Drive”)
Now Google Drive appears as a drive under This PC in Windows File Explorer.
