In Pre-AP Algebra 1, students develop a deep understanding of linear, quadratic, and exponential relationships emphasizing patterns of change, multiple representations of functions and equations, modeling real world scenarios with functions, and methods for finding and representing solutions of equations and inequalities. Taken together, these ideas provide powerful conceptual tools that students can use to make sense of their world through mathematics.Â
OnRamps Statistics is a dual-enrollment data analysis course for high school juniors and seniors seeking to develop the quantitative reasoning skill and habits of mind necessary to succeed in the higher education environment. This course will target conceptual understanding and hone highly relevant mathematical skills through scaffolded introduction of statistical methodologies, informal game play, and strategic lab exercises that engage students in hands-on analysis of real data. Valuable programming and coding skills are acquired as a means to conduct these analyses, giving students a solid foundation in data science. Students can earn three hours of UT credit with feedback and assessment provided by UT course staff.
Honors Algebra II serves as the foundation for the Advanced Placement, Dual Credit, or OnRamps Dual Enrollment programs. In addition to the prescribed curriculum for Algebra II, this course will address higher-level thinking and problem solving skills. Also included are proof and theory of algebraic statements and analyzing and solving more challenging problems. Graphing calculators will be utilized extensively.
