GOAL:
This 9-minute mindfulness practice focuses on relaxing one’s body and feeling in the moment. The goal of this Body Scan Practice is to be in the moment and become aware of tensions in your body.
Many teachers use this in the evening to relax, and some use it when they cannot fall asleep.
Mindfulness is about being completely present/fully engaged and aware of what we are doing and what is going on in our surroundings- free from distraction or judgment, and aware of our thoughts and feelings without getting caught up in them (www.headspace.com).
What is Mindfulness Meditation?
It is one way to truly experience the present moment and integrate that awareness into your everyday life (www.headspace.com).
Benefits of Mindfulness:
- decreased stress and sadness
- increased levels of focus and happiness
- get better sleep
