Chinese Inventions Assignment

Assessment: A Chinese Invention Poster

1.  Students will choose one ancient Chinese invention from a video 

2. Students will create Factual, Causal, and Comparative questions to help direct their research. 

3.  Students must take short / research notes, like we will practice in class. They need notes from at least three sites. Students use these notes to make a poster about their invention.

4. Students need to include a bibliography done in MLA format that includes 3 sources that they got information about their invention. 

5.  They will then develop an A4 poster about their invention. The poster must include: a drawing/ picture of their invention; an explanation that has the dynasty when it was invented, a description of how it worked, and an explanation about why you think it may have influenced ancient China (and maybe the world), and any other interesting information.

6.  The poster must be creative, colourful, and organized. It must have perfect spelling, grammar, and appropriate expressions. GET YOUR WRITING CHECKED! NO COPYING – COPIED WORK = NO MARK. 

Success Criteria 

I can describe when the technology was invented, who invented it, why / how it was invented, where it was invented, how it worked, and how it was used (K).

I can explain how the technology influenced Ancient China and the world (T).

I can create research notes of the invention (T)

I can develop a variety of research questions that deepen understanding and connect to the success criteria, (A) 

I can create a bibliography with at least 3 sources MLA style (A).
