I think most people go to college because it is the normal thing to do in our society. There is a large emphasis on having a college degree and most people go that route even though they may not be ready yet. Personally, I am in college to further my education and progress into a job in the fastest way possible. Also, with ROTC, I have to be attending college at the same time. My family had a large impact on my decision to go to college, both my siblings and my parents have achieved high education and strive to be like them and they want that for me as well. My friends as well were all going to college so it seemed like the natural thing to do was to also attend college. For me, a good college experience is achieving my degree with a high(er) GPA but also having fun and making friends, a bad experience would be focusing too much on social gatherings or putting all your effort into school, it needs to have a balance. A degree means not only you are more educated on that topic/major, but also that you had the self-discipline to get through college. A degree from CU Boulder does not mean more to me than a different college. I can use college as a foundation to build my life and goals upon, completing a college degree will be very useful in finding a job and all-around becoming a better person.
