Bio

Ben Shear is an Associate Professor in the Research & Evaluation Methodology program at the CU Boulder School of Education, a faculty partner at the Center for Assessment, Design, Research & Evaluation (CADRE), and a member of the development team for the Stanford Education Data Archive at the Educational Opportunity Project. Prior to joining CU he was an Institute of Education Sciences (IES) predoctoral fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Education. Ben completed an MA degree in Measurement, Evaluation & Research Methodology at the University of British Columbia Vancouver and a BA degree in Philosophy and Mathematics at Dartmouth College. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, he was a high school mathematics teacher at the Eagle Rock School in Estes Park, Colorado. He attended high school at the FW Parker Charter Essential School, where a dedicated community of educators and students shaped his beliefs about what a public school education can look like. When he is not working, you might find Ben hiking and rock climbing with his family or learning a new card trick.
