Many techniques have been proposed to measure the dielectric constant of a laminate layer in a circuit board. We have explored a few different methods and settled on a combination of the delta L and a resonant structure. A methodology is introduced to measure the dielectric and geometry properties of each layer using specialized test structures and hacking. This is a simple practical method that can be applied to every layer of a multilayer circuit board.
