I invest in the unearthing of mind through mud. In the beginning there is dirt belonging to the worms and the bones and the iron and the rust. They fold in on themselves and become compounds that have already begun to mold as I work my mind into the mixture. That mold is collected and coiled into a new form.
A marriage of mind and mud.
From the ground stems great legs and arms snaking their way to a sun to cultivate the rock growing in their skin. The mud folds their fingers down my forearm into my palm asking to be stretched further. Should this delicate life choose they will drop my hand and fall back down to the soil, and what remains is what it needed to be. The dirt belonging to the worms and the bones and the iron and the rust.
I am inspired by the life that my material holds, and subconscious powers of hidden mind. I explore the landscapes of my inner self by modeling experiences had, challenges overcome, and mistakes made. Collaborating with my subconscious allows me to access aspects of myself that attempt to remain hidden.
Positive, growth oriented mindscapes are cultivated and maintained. They require conscious effort, and the taking out of mental trash. Creating a secure, comfortable, supportive internal landscape to rely on as home.
The landscapes I create become canvases on which observers can paint their own experiences. The small, dollhouse-like worlds touch lost wonder and curiosity. The urge to create a reason or story to interpret the landscape becomes a window into forgotten memory and concealed mind.
