We acknowledge Indigenous Peoples as the original caretakers of the Arctic since time immemorial and as the stewards of the Arctic for future generations. Indigenous Peoples have strong social, economic, cultural and rights-based relationships with Arctic lands and waters. These interrelated connections coupled with generational knowledge of how the Arctic is changing are crucial in shaping Arctic policy, science and research, and resilient communities. The NNA Community Office is dedicated towards supporting equitable efforts that inform our shared understanding of a changing Arctic, and promote frameworks for ethical research and Indigenous self-determination.Â
