Workshop News:

    • Thank you all who participated in the 5th Career Workshop for Women and Minorities in Computer Architecture! We are extremely happy with the success of the workshop and we hope we are able to repeat it once again next year. Above is one of the many wonderful pictures (photo credit given to the amazing Joel Emer) that captures the amazing participants during the poster session.
    • The workshop will take place in the Edna Hopkins (lobby level) room. Note that posters will be on display in the same room where we will have lunch, which is in George Bellows A & B (lower level).
    • The complete program was updated with our speaker names. Check out the amazing speakers we will have this year as well as the panel participants. You can learn more about them on the Speakers tab.
    • AMD Research would like to invite under-represented minorities – for example, but not limited to, gender, ethnic, racial, LGBTQIA – of the MICRO community to join us for a dessert social celebrating diversity and inclusion. The event will be held on Sunday, October 13th at 7:45pm at Buca di Beppo (5-minute walk from the conference hotel) after the MICRO reception. This will be an informal gathering with the aim of getting to know one another, building relationships, and networking. AMD Research wants to establish a head count, so please RSVP to yasuko.eckert@amd.com. Looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Overview:

The MICRO Career Workshop will bring together women and under-represented minorities at different levels in academia, industry, research, government and students to promote the recruitment, retention and progression of women and under-represented groups with research interests in computer architecture.

The workshop will highlight emerging and hot topics in computer architecture, but also provide opportunities for cross-disciplinary research, networking, and career advice and mentoring. The workshop will contain a mix of technical presentations and panel sessions given by academic and industry leaders as well as informal activities to provide mentoring for students as they get started in their careers.

The workshop includes a student research poster session, career panels, advice on careers in academia, industry research, government, or deciding to start your own company, and a speed mentoring session. Keynotes and invited talks will cover the latest research trends in computer architecture.

There will be no charge for the workshop for woman and underrepresented minority participants, and students will be eligible for partial reimbursement of their travel expenses. Workshop participants need to register, and eligible participants will be reimbursed for the registration fee. Registration details will be updated soon.
