Registration opens for Spring 2027 on November 1, 2026, at 9am EST!
Graduation is the official designation that a student has completed all degree requirements and registrar has conferred the degree. CU degrees are conferred three times a year - December 31, May 31, and July 31. Degrees are conferred on the date closest to when your requirements are fulfilled.
Degree conferral requires that all degree requirements are met, including all Big 10s!
To request an official transcript after your degree has been conferred, visit Request Transcript – Office of the Registrar. If you have any questions regarding your diploma, please contact the Office of the Registrar at registrar@collegeunbound.edu.

College Unbound celebrates commencement annually, and invites eligible students to walk in the ceremony. Participation in a Commencement Ceremony does not mean you've graduated. Commencement is a celebration, graduation is when you've completed all degree requirements and your degree has been conferred.
Big 10 Honors are presented at Commencement ceremonies in lieu of diplomas. Diploamas are mailed to students after degree conferral.
Students who wish to participate in commencement must be enrolled in their Capstone course during the Fall, Spring, or Summer semester of the academic year in which the ceremony is held. Enrollment in Capstone indicates that the student is on track to complete all remaining degree requirements. Students who meet this enrollment requirement are eligible to walk in the commencement ceremony, confirmed by the registrar.
A few key notes about Capstone eligibility:
To be enrolled in capstone, students must:
have successfully completed or be concurrently enrolled in all degree requirements (core courses, major requirements and all gen eds and electives).
have a minimum of 8 Big 10 TLCS credited on Degree Audit
Only approved and credited LIP and Big 10 Portfolios will be considered for Capstone eligibility.
