As part of the BA degree in Organizational Leadership & Change, the Transformative Education Pathway (TEP) provides an optional guidance for CU students working in educational settings who want to make an impact in the field of education. TEP offers multiple course options based on individual students’ career goals. For several career areas within the field of education, we have included suggestions for relevant educational pedagogy courses as well as helpful general info.
Degree Requirements: All CU students are working toward a BA in Organizational Leadership & Change and must meet all CU’s degree requirements. Education courses are available for students to develop professionally as educators and work towards their specific career goals. These courses are not required for graduation, but are strongly recommended to prepare students for their educational professions. These courses are designed to meet various CU degree requirements so that students’ educational experience is integrated into their BA degree. (Note: if a student has already fulfilled a CU requirement through transfer credits, LIP credits or other CU courses, then educational courses will count towards students’ required Elective credits.)
Teacher Certification: CU does not certify teachers. However, CU provides the necessary coursework to prepare teacher-candidates for emergency certification through their respective State Education Department.
Students interested in pursuing a career in education are advised to register for the appropriate courses based on their career goals.
However, all courses are open to all students regardless of their certification pathway. We encourage students to choose courses that:
Support their pathway certification goals (whether at CU or elsewhere)
Support their own professional development
Enrich their CU project
Align with their passions
Please review these courses with your lab faculty. If you have additional questions, Students and Lab Faculty can also reach out directly to Swetha Narasimhan. Please see the full course descriptions in the Academic Catalog.
