Hi! My name is Giovana. I was born in the U.S., but both of my parents are Peruvian, and I’m proud of my roots. I’m 18 years old, a first-generation college student, and currently a business major at Montgomery College. I’m also the owner of a small ribbon bouquet business called Bouquets by Giovana (@bouquetsbygiovana on Instagram!). Ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved flowers, I used to pick them in the park just for fun. During my senior year of high school, I saw ribbon bouquets becoming popular and decided to turn my love for flowers into a creative business. That’s how Bouquets by Giovana began!
Edlam graduated from UMBC in Fall 2024 and will be attending Syracuse University College of Law in Fall 2025. Here is what she had to say about her journey.
"It has been a huge blessing being a first generation graduate from a prestigious university such as UMBC. I am shocked yet honored to have the privilege to attend Syracuse Law in the fall. Coach Kourtney taught me about perseverance and maintaining a work-life balance, which I'll forever be grateful for. Post-grad life requires more responsibility and time management on my part; although I'm still getting used to it, it's a shift I'm blessed to be able to make. I'm grateful for all the gems I learned about myself and the world I live in during college, and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for me."
