WHAT IS COLLEGE TRACK? College Track is a college completion after school program designed to help students, who are driven & motivated but lack resources, obtain a college education. We ensure that students are successful in high school, matriculate to college, & graduate from college.
HOW MUCH DOES COLLEGE TRACK COST TO JOIN? Nothing! Our program, including college tours, is completely free! College Track is a nonprofit funded by individual and corporate donations.
WHO MAY APPLY TO COLLEGE TRACK? All College Track applicants must be in their current 9th grade year at the time of application. Most of our scholars typically reside in East Palo Alto, Palo Alto, Menlo Park, and Redwood City. Our students are from underserved communities to become the first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree.
WHAT IS A TYPICAL AFTERNOON LIKE AT COLLEGE TRACK? Students come to College Track about 3 hours per week, depending on the individual schedule they create with us. Our site offers 2 sessions between the hours of 4:30 pm-7:30 pm Monday through Thursday. Students will participate in an Academic Learning Lab to strengthen their academic performance and also a LEAD cohort meeting to focus on developing a student-centered learning environment.
CAN I PLAY SPORTS WHILE IN COLLEGE TRACK? Yes! If you are involved in a sport, creating a College Track schedule that works best for you can be tricky, but we have many students who find time to do both. We will do our best to accommodate, and students should let their coaches know that they may need to miss the occasional practice to maintain their College Track commitment.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T GET GOOD GRADES? College Track staff empower students to take ownership of their own academic success & areas of growth. Students who show commitment to improvement will continue to be supported & encouraged to attend additional sessions at College Track.
