The Career Discovery Externship is a summer program that connects college scholars to learn about career pathways in various sectors by visiting host companies, experiencing a day-in-the-life, and identifying the roles there that align with their interest and values that might be a great fit for their futures. Scholar experience panels, workshops, career readiness tips, and activities to practice critical thinking, and problem solving in a work environment.
PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
This program supports scholars to become internship-ready by practicing networking skills, building up confidence in work environments, and honing in on the types of opportunities they would like to seek out in the future!
The opportunity is a great fit for college students who are exploring their career options, have an interest in experiencing a wide range of companies/organizations, or would like to expand their network. For instance, if a student is interested in internship opportunities but doesn’t feel quite ready to identify the best fit for them or take on a full-time commitment, this is an excellent stepping stone.
ELIGIBILITY:
18+ by 6/1/2023
Rising year 1 and year 2 student in college recommended, but open to all college scholars
Program alumni are not eligible. If you will graduate college on or before 7/31/24, you are not eligible to participate

Applications due: 5/1/24
Final day for scholars to be admitted to program: 5/15/24
Final day for scholars to sign agreement: 5/31/24
Student orientation: 6/18/24
Events with corporate hosts: 6/25/24 - 8/8/24
Week 1 = 6/25/24 - 6/27/24
Week 2 = 7/9/24 - 7/11/24
Week 3 = 7/16/24 - 7/28/24
Week 4 = 7/30/24 - 8/1/24
Week 5 = 8/6/24 - 8/8/24
Closing session: 8/12/24
