Green Revolving Investment Tracking System (GRITS)

The Green Revolving Investment Tracking System (GRITS) is a web tool created by the Sustainable Endowments Institute (SEI) that is designed to help institutions like Colgate manager their Green Revolving Loan Fund.  GRITS allows schools to better analyze project-level energy, financial, and carbon data. GRITS provides an intuitive interface to  track fund performance annually and over time for energy efficiency and other resource conservation projects.

In FY 2018, SEI partnered with APPA to offer a basic level of GRITS free to all APPA members including Colgate.  For this reason, Colgate entered data and began using GRITS on a trial basis.  We were impressed with its simplicity and the scope of data and resources available.  Most importantly, GRITS allowed us to track our fund balance, annual rates of return, carbon reductions, and other metrics in an easy-to-use format.  

The Green Revolving Loan Fund Subcommittee was impressed with the trial and decided to upgrade to GRITS Unlimited for $1,200 for the year.  The upgrade gave us:

1. 50% discount on the annual GRITS Unlimited subscription cost

2. Unlimited number of GRITS user accounts

3. Unlimited number of GRITS project entries

4. Full access to the GRITS Project Library and Reporting features.  The GRITS Library has thousands of completed projects for benchmarking and inspiration.
